'A Night as Smooth as Velvet'
Seidel's tribute to Doris Day was polished in every sense.

Succinct, information-laden, Doris yarns punctuated a set of delicious iconic songs.

Seidel has something of the Doris about her - the presentation is so personal and easy that you don't notice the virtuosity.

Chuck Morgan sounded as though he'd been lifted from a Verve recording, particularly with his caramel solo in Fools Rush in.

Janet Seidel Quintet with the Brad Child Big Band
Apart from one excursion to the keyboard she concentrated on interpreting songs of the swing era and moved easily between the torchy and the raunchy with nods to many emotions along the way.

The Big Band moved the audience with their ability for inventive solos and blazing chorus work.
