Welcome
Based in Sydney, Australia, vocalist / pianist Janet Seidel currently enjoys a rare and enviable international reputation with 17 CDs released in Australia and also available in several other countries. In the Penguin Guide to Jazz on CD 2006 (UK) she is described as “Australia’s first lady of jazz”. On the other hand she is revered by cabaret aficionados overseas such as in New York’s Cabaret Hotline - “I had heard so much about this delightful jazz star from Australia, but I was still not prepared for this awesome performance. I have never been so thrilled by a performer - this lady is amazing - such pure clean vocals!" according to the writer.
Michael Pascoe writes:
Janet, what a delightful new venue for your music at Waterbrook – it had the air of a private concert, a hint of “by invitation only”. Do we at last have a home for up-market cabaret on the North Shore? More, please. You were, of course, sparkling and the audience rapt.

Madeleine writes from Armidale:
Armidale was recently lucky enough to host this fantastic trio. If you want to hear jazz at its finest, this is it! From the moment she walked on stage, it was clear we were in for something really special. This lady is the embodiment of style, and yes, glamour. Her sublime vocals were sensitively supported by David Seidel on double bass, and Chuck Morgan on guitar and ukulele. There were many great solos, and it would have been wonderful to hear even more from David and Janet.
Armidale NECOM concert: Massiel Barros-Torning writes:
The Janet Seidel trio concert was sensational! Each member so talented and passionate, it was an absolute feeling of “how lucky am I to be here”. As a trio, they entertained beyond anyone I have ever seen live. The experience was memorable, I was moved, entertained and overwhelmed with emotion, because their performance was so intimate, honest, and world class. We had visitors from overseas and out of state, they had never experienced music sung so beautifully and performed with such an enthusiastic vibe.
Ingrid Petts writes from Moruya
Sat 3rd July at The River Restaurant in Moruya, South Coast NSW. Those residents who were unable to obtain a reservation at The River Restaurant on Saturday night, missed a rare treat. Janet Seidel and her Trio (Quartet!) performed to a packed house receiving much ovation throughout the evening, including demands for encores at the end of the night. Janet is a well known Jazz and Cabaret artist whose intimate performance draws her audiences full and silent appreciation, until the end that is!
