CD REVIEW - 'Dear Blossom'
Dusty Groove Website

A lovely tribute to the great Blossom Dearie -- served up by Australian vocalist Janet Seidel! The choice of tunes is really wonderful too -- and features the best bits from Blossom's recorded work stretchin from her Verve years, her hard to find imports, and her later American releases!

CD REVIEW - 'Dear Blossom'
Sydney Morning Herald - John Shand

December 22, 2004
This analogue recording almost radiates heat, it's so warm. The fact that many of the songs carry the light, understated wit that helped define the eccentricity of Blossom Dearie serves to extend the glow. Janet Seidel sounds at home doing this stuff: there was always a girlishness to her voice and a cushion of air underneath it, anyway, and the prevailing wryness suits her. The Dave Frishberg songs like 'My Attorney Bernie' and 'Peel Me a Grape' are immortal, and guitarist Chuck Morgan, bassist David Seidel and drummer Billy Ross give everything the magic-carpet-ride treatment.

A tribute to Blossom Dearie that makes the listener intoxicated with adoration!
Only Seidel can make songs in 'Dear Blossom' likeable to anyone who hears it with her delicate and attractive chemistry. I have been very touched by the choice of songs and the manner of expression. Expressing perfectly her own inner personality and liveliness, she has chosen the more adorable songs. When listening to 'The Surrey with the Fringe on top' my heart is transferred into the inner worlds of both Blossom and Janet. Together both performers sing and play adding a level of connection for audiences to adore and admire. The 18 tracks recorded have various unique distinctions and leave me with a feeling of joy right to the last track. From work to work, Janet adjusts her singing style and method ever so slightly and a cute and adorable side of her comes to life together with a special sense of curiosity. The quality throughout shines through consistently together with great arrangements and accompaniment.

A tribute to Blossom Dearie overflowing with love
Dear Blossom is a recent tribute work that re-evaluates Café Music. She has also had works which pay tribute to Doris Day and Peggy Lee. However, Blossom is a singer who was thought to have selected more difficult and unusual songs. Blossom uses her one-in-a million adorable voice to interpret songs that seem very difficult technically. The intimacy shines through in Seidel's tribute. She extends and stretches using a warm voice and ultimately making the melodies her own. One song is composed by Janet and the love towards Blossom is shown to be overflowing.

CD REVIEW - 'Dear Blossom'
Tadani Michigawa

A feeling like being 'madly in love' is found in Janet Seidel's heartfelt tribute 'Dear Blossom. Having done tributes on both Doris Day and Peggy Lee. Seidel shows the more delicate side of this particular singer. She handles it with ease and her approach to the original is refreshing and bright. Dearie's 'kamamoto' voice is portrayed by Janet to be hip and highbrow!. This is how she sees it and performs it. Her clear, adorable and controlled voice is charming.
