CD REVIEW - 'The Art of Lounge - Volume 2'
Cadence (USA) - Page 113

June 2004
This is the third CD Australian vocalist Janet Seidel has dedicated to the 'Art Of Lounge.'There's no explanation anywhere of what makes this so much a lounge set.

Maybe it's the use of lush string arrangements or songs from the easy-listening side of the Fifties.

Whatever the reason, this CD again shows what a fine singer Seidel is. Her sunny, coquettish voice sounds right at home on this material giving a velvety sheen to the work done by her combo and the string section.

She puts over sentimental romance well on 'Trolley Song'and 'Over The Rainbow'and demonstrates her talent for swinging subtly on 'Cow Cow Boogie'and 'Lullaby Of Birdland.'

Seidel is the kind of singer who makes it all sound effortless.

This is a fine showcase for her.

CD REVIEW - 'The Art of Lounge - Volume 2'
Sunday Sun Herald - Kevin Weir

November 7, 1999
"...the new release is a fine production and one that wisely covers a broad range of material, swingers, ballads, Jobim bossa nova and Doris Day cha cha. Highlight track on this master class in the Art of Lounge is a swaying swinging version of Poinciana."

Also in that issue Mr Weir reviewed the Wangaratta Jazz Festival, saying: "Sydney singer Janet Seidel proved again she has a way with pop tunes of varied vintages, familiarity & style that is utterly bewitching. In front of a cooking band Seidel performed a number of tunes from her new album "The Art of Lounge: Volume 2."

Takashi Yamamoto - Swing Journal (Japan)

"...This is the sequel to Janet Seidel"s well received "Art of Lounge: Volume 1" CD.

"...Once again, she's done it: swinging, groovy!"

"...I like the Doris Day feel she gets and the flowing Latin Mood."

October 2003
Two years on from Volume 1, Australian club diva Janet Seidel comes back with another set of chilled-out Latin-flavoured jazz. Clean deft arrangements over serpentine double-bass provide an inspiring springboard for her silky vocals, augmented by some very tasteful solos from Chuck Morgan (guitar), Maree Steinway (piano and also the strings arranger) and Tom Baker (sax). The easy, slippery feel and the sexy, up mood of this belie the virtuosity.
